Cindy Allen: Candidate for Long Beach City Council District 2
Cindy Allen says she’s running for the District 2 City Council seat because she loves Long Beach. Allen grew up on the city’s westside adding that what she especially loves is the city’s diversity. The second district candidate fears Long Beach is in danger of losing that quality.
“…as I look what’s happening to Long Beach especially with the affordability to live here that we’re going to lose that and that’s just important that we keep that.”
Allen says the city’s diversity is “what makes us rich. That’s what makes Long Beach uniquely Long Beach.”
Cindy Allen describes that issue as “super important” to her.

PalacioMagazine.com interviewed City Council candidates for Districts 2, 6, and 8. We asked each candidate the same three questions with follow-ups for clarification and more in-depth information.
- Why are you running?
- What is your vision for the District?
- Name and discuss two or three Policy issues
Cindy Allen joins six other candidates running to fill the soon to be vacant City Council seat for District 2: Jesus Cisneros, Eduardo Lara, Ryan Lum, Nigel Lifsey, Robert Fox, and Jeanette Barrera. PalacioMagazine.com sat down with District 2 candidate Cindy Allen to get her answers to these questions.
More on Cindy Allen
“My name is Cindy Allen and I’ve lived in Long Beach almost my whole life. I grew up on the west side with a single mother and sister and brother in their early years struggled with addiction. I attended Stephens Middle School and Long Beach Poly. I wanted to change my family circumstance, so I worked hard in high school and became student body president. I attended Long Beach City College while working as a waitress, maid, and flower shop attendant.
I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others and provide for myself and my family, so in 1988 I became a Long Beach Police Officer. I was one of the few women in the department at the time, and the first woman ever to serve in the gang and undercover detail. I worked to prove that women could do any type of police work done by men. I was a proud Long Beach Police Officer for ten years until I seriously injured my back during a tragic incident while apprehending a violent crime suspect.
During my years at the LBPD, I was awarded more than 20 commendations for bravery and exceptional service to Long Beach. I also graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a master’s degree in Public Administration during my service. I learned a lot about courage and hard work as a Police Officer so when I left the department I decided to become an entrepreneur and started my own business: Agency ETA. For 14 years I ran a successful small business based right here in Long Beach providing marketing and advertising services for national brands, local businesses, and public agencies. It was such a success I just sold the business.
I’m also a double mastectomy breast cancer survivor, have been married to my husband for 25 years, and have two children. We are proud parents of a lesbian daughter and both work diligently with the LBGTQ+ community to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people can live openly without discrimination.” Source: Campaign website
