Nigel Lifsey: Candidate for Long Beach City Council District 2
Nigel Lifsey has been invested in politics since his youth. In high school, Lifsey realized that the government has a large impact on the economy which is the field he was choosing to study. The elections of 2008 and 2016 both moved Lifsey to get more emotionally invested in government. Since moving to the second district, Nigel Lifsey became frustrated with what he saw in its City Council representation. Family and Friends knew that he was passionate about the district and improving the city.
“They saw how invested I am in improving the status, helping the city grow. They kind of helped me and pushed me and encouraged me to do it.”

PalacioMagazine.com interviewed City Council candidates for Districts 2, 6, and 8. We asked each candidate the same three questions with follow-ups for clarification and more in-depth information.
- Why are you running?
- What is your vision for the District?
- Name and discuss two or three Policy issues
Nigel Lifsey joins six other candidates (Cindy Allen, Jesus Cisneros, Eduardo Lara, Ryan Lum, Robert Fox, and Jeanette Barrera) vying to represent District 2 on the Long Beach City Council. PalacioMagazine.com sat down with Lifsey to get his answers to these questions.
“Politics is about deciding who gets what, when, and how. Let’s decide together.” Nigel Lifsey
Nigel Lifsey Vision Statement
Community: The decisions we make must build a sense of pride in our community. Let’s beautify our community by increasing and improving park spaces, improving mobility and safety for pedestrians and bikers, and addressing the lack of parking options in our neighborhoods.
Inclusion: We should be proud of our city’s diversity, and the decisions we make must reflect that. The dramatic rise in the cost of housing over the years has created a sense of exclusion from our own community. We must counteract that by implementing housing policies that incentivize the development of affordable housing in our community.
Prosperity: Small businesses are the engines that propel our local economy. They are vital to our city’s progress, and they provide tremendous value to our neighborhoods. We must create an economic environment in our city that allows these businesses to flourish and prosper.
Joy: We should enjoy the benefits of living in such a beautiful, diverse city. Let’s make decisions that improve our quality of life, promote inclusiveness, and foster economic growth in our community. Let’s create the joy that we seek.
