Sharifah Hardie: Candidate for Long Beach City Council District 6
Sharifah Hardie has a bold statement on the front page of her website, “Let’s Change The World…Together.” Hardie writes that while change is needed in Long Beach City Council District 6, “Change is not always obvious.” She goes on to explain that choosing the best candidate for the city sometimes goes against the status quo.
“However, change is necessary and change is inevitable.”

In an interview with PalacioMagazine.com, Sharifah Hardie explained how an older friend shared her concern that someone needed to run against the sixth district incumbent.
“So, I heard that for a year and after that I heard ‘Sharifah, you have to do something’.”
Hardie describes her background as building businesses and calls that experience “a lot like building communities.” That friend then encouraged Sharifah Hardie to “do for the city of Long Beach what you’ve done for businesses.” Hardie is now among five candidates campaigning to unseat District 6 Vice-Mayor Dee Andrews.
PalacioMagazine.com interviewed City Council candidates for Districts 2, 6, and 8. We asked each candidate the same three questions with follow-ups for clarification and more in-depth information.
- Why are you running?
- What is your vision for the District?
- Name and discuss two or three Policy issues
PalacioMagazine.com sat down with District 6 candidate Sharifah Hardie to get her answers to these questions.
