TEDX Presents “The Necessity of Activism” by Lucinda Carroll
“Activism has interested Lucinda for as long as she can remember, but it never seemed like the right time for her to take action. When she found herself, as a high school student in America, wrapped up in the vicious debate over gun control, she knew that it had become necessary to get involved. Everyone has something they are passionate about, and it is no longer acceptable to be a passive supporter of a cause, taking action is a necessity. Lucinda’s talk takes a look at activism through a teen’s eyes. Lucinda is a junior at Nyack High School and she is super excited to have the chance to get to speak at SRDS! In her spare time, she rows, does theater and plays the drums. She is also one of the youth organizers for the Rockland County division of the March for our Lives and is involved in several other activist organizations around the community. Her talk is about the necessity of activism, and why passive activism is no longer an option for our generation. She is so honored to get to speak at this event!”
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
