How to Live in An Unkind World by Shanna B. Tiayon
“Shanna B. Tiayon, Ph.D., tackles the topic of unkindness, which she defines as a form of interpersonal trauma. Using her family’s 2018 experience with a National Parks Service bus driver at the Grand Canyon, as an illustration, she makes the connection between experiences with unkindness and guardedness; an absence of vulnerability. She offers viewers three alternatives to guardedness that can help them navigate unkindness and still be able to choose vulnerability. Shanna, also known as “The Wellbeing Dr.,” is a writer, speaker, and trainer working in the area of wellbeing. She defines wellbeing as a sense of enjoying life, happiness, and optimism. She works to foster wellbeing and elucidate the ways we may infringe upon the wellbeing of others.”
