Replay: Jerlene Tatum: Entrepreneur, Community Advocate, And Mom
PalacioMagazine.com will be shutting down in mid-December 2020. Over the next few weeks, we will be spotlighting past stories.
Jerlene Tatum grabbed the attention recently of palaciomagazine.com with her Facebook live commentaries outside the Long Beach Unified School District Board meetings. She would be sitting outdoors with her mask, on a chair, with laptop on her lap providing a running commentary on what is happening or giving testimony before the board. It didn’t stop there. There were the Facebook livecasts from her home where she spared no relief with running comments on everything from schools to social justice.

Jerlene Tatum is not afraid to tell it like it is in a direct but controlled and honest tone. But you know what she is saying and more importantly why she is saying it. A podcast interview with Ms. Tatum quickly explains that she cares fiercely not only about her school-age children but all children in schools. Her focus on social justice issues is matched by her entrepreneur and organization skills and how small businesses and nonprofits can use them to grow and move forward.
You may disagree with what she might say but that doesn’t negate its importance and relevance to the conversation. What is important is that you know she is serious and committed. Jerlene Tatum is a good example of an involved parent and citizen. We could all learn a thing or two from her interview on PalacioMagazine.com
