Islam and Immigration Crisis in the U.S.: What History Teaches Us
“Luke Ritter’s talk draws comparisons between anti-Islamicism today and anti-Catholicism in the past and suggests that the history of American-immigrant relations warrants a few predictions about the future of Islam in the U.S. Dr. Luke Ritter completed his Ph.D. in American History at Saint Louis University in 2014 and accepted a full-time teaching position at Troy University, where he is currently employed. Ritter’s scholarly interests include nineteenth-century immigration to the U.S., the relationship between religion and politics in America, and nativism. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles, and his book manuscript, Nativism in the Old West and the Anti-Catholic Origins of American Civil Religion, is currently under review at Fordham University Press.”
