Far from Home; My Mother’s Lesson by Simon Frederick
“A man travels the world over in search of what he needs,” – said George Moore, – “and returns home to find it. That was true for Simon Frederick, who feeling frustrated and marginalised as an artist in the United Kingdom, left the place of his birth only to return years later and find that he belongs there after all. Simon Frederick is a self-taught artist, photographer, film-maker, and broadcaster. His multidisciplinary work seeks to explore society, culture and human nature. He has produced and directed the award-winning documentary series Black is the New Black (2016). Frederick served as a judge on the Sky Arts series Master of Photography and has been profiled as one of 2018’s 100 ‘Most Influential Black Britons’ in the category of Media, Publishing, and Entertainment.”
