COVID-19 and What We Will Learn for The Future: Two Boomers Talking
COVID-19, Coronavirus, the Pandemic, toilet paper. One cannot hide from the most game-changing event in our lifetime. Yes, even greater than 9/11. We’re going to have to go back to World War Two, the Depression, and the Influenza Epidemic of 1918-19 to compare what is happening to the world today. Thomas Fields and I are Boomers in our early seventies and we both agree that this pandemic is going to change everything moving forward. From our global economies to the way we work and play to our healthcare system, we will need to rethink how we live, work, and play.

Thomas Fields is an old friend of mine with whom I’ve shared many a good meal and great discussions on every topic under the sun, moon, and universe. Since we cannot continue those discussions in person, we thought we’d try it on Zoom. As usual, we talked about all sorts of subjects and how this COVID-19 pandemic is going to affect them and us and most importantly, what will be the lessons learned when (and if) we ever make it to the other side.

The life and resume are too long to list here but they include everything from stints as a radio host and producer to television reporter to motorcycle messenger to a bartender to Executive Producer of E! Entertainment’s Live Red Carpet Shows. I too gave my time to boards and commissions on both coasts, mentoring young people, and producing and publishing palaciomagazine.com. Since I don’t have enough to keep me busy, I am attending Long Beach City College on my way to graduating and transferring to a four-year university in 2021. This has been number one on my bucket list since I tried three other efforts with the last effort in 1970. I think I’ll finish this time.
