LBPD Addresses Divisive Rumors
Long Beach Police officials addressed divisive social media rumors at a community meeting at Temple Baptist Church. The rumors have been bubbling on social media with threats to black and asian women. The Long Beach Ministers Alliance and local neighborhood community group Anaheim, Orange, Cherry, 7th hosted the meeting.
June and July are proving to be violent months in Long Beach. However, city and police officials claim the annual rate of violent crime is on its way to be lower than last year. That was small comfort to community members at Temple Baptist Church. There was palpatable tension with some residents questioning assurances from the Police Department’s Gang Division Commander Robert Luman that the rumors are unfounded.
